Judging Procedure and Criteria

Online Selection (to submit ideas and videos based on three major themes)

  1. Fill in the online registration form
  2. Fill in the team profile and work concept, 300 words each
  3. Upload a demo video of the work (a 3 minutes demo video must be provided, featuring the description and demonstration of the work. The content must fully express how to solve one of the three themes in the tourism industry – (a) Revitalize, Optimize and Transform the Tourism Industry (b) yearly travel themes of Tourism Bureau (c) In sync with international standards and sustainable development, while explaining the definition of the problem, the way to solve it, and the function of the work.
  4. The judges consist of representatives of the information industry and the tourism industry, public associations, and communities who can share opinions on marketing and work functions, the travel media to give suggestions on marketing/promotion and tourist experience, and the academics and policy representatives give insights on domestic tourism policy and promotion.
  5. The judges will select 10 teams for the final through document review in the first round. (10 for not commercialized group & 10 for commercialized group) Three judging criteria are thematic design, detail solution and ways of execution, and video content/presentation.

Detail solution and ways of execution 40%

(1) Innovative content and concept: Tourism solutions that facilitate changes in tourist behaviors, tourist experiences, development of community tourism, and tourist services

Video Content/Presentation 40%

(1) Whether the use scenario can fully explain the characteristics, convenience or differences from the existing service, and whether the video work is creative and can move the users

Final (to introduce the team’s conceptual work)

  1. The teams must participate in all final-round related events, and provide the materials required for the exhibition/competition. The proposal for the final and presentation slides for the pitch competition must be uploaded before the deadline.
  2. Please give the presentation in English. Each team has 6 minutes for the pitch. When time is up, the microphone will be silenced and the presentation will be cut off to ensure that each team is given the same time on stage.
  3. The judging panel will conduct comprehensive evaluation and select three teams for the Taiwan Blue Magpie Uniqueness Prize and three teams for the Taiwan Macaque Solidarity Prize.
  4. The focus of this stage will be on thematic design and how the work fits the theme, solution and creative design, and forward-lookingness in technology. In addition, to encourage the teams to turn their concepts into real works, a working demo could also be performed as a bonus to the total score, allowing the judges and the audience to better understand the service.

Work Demo Another 10% to the total score

(1) Demonstrate the work according to its service design

  1. Fill in the online registration form (including the time the service is launched), the team profile and the work idea (300 words each).
  2. Upload work URL or App installation file download link.
  3. Explain the difference between the entry and the formerly launched original version, or any optimization is done.
  4. Upload a demo video of the work (a 3 minutes demo video must be provided, featuring the description and demonstration of the work. The content must fully express the theme and the definition of the problem, solve one of the three themes in the tourism industry – (a) Revitalize, Optimize and Transform the Tourism Industry (b) yearly travel themes of Tourism Bureau (c) In sync with international standards and sustainable development, while explaining the definition of the problem, the way to solve it, and the function of the work).

Final (to demo works at the Tourism Tech Pavilion and join the pitch competition and the award ceremony)

  1. The teams must participate in all the final round events, and provide the materials required for the exhibition/competition as a part of the evaluation process.The proposal for the final and presentation slides for the pitch competition must be uploaded before the deadline.
  2. The teams must give a 6 minutes pitch in English. When time is up, the microphone will be silenced and the presentation will be cut off to ensure that each team is given the same time on stage.
  3. The judging panel will conduct comprehensive evaluation and select the winners for the top three prizes: the Impeccable Jade Mountain (one team), the Super Ali Mountain (one team) and the Best Yangming Mountain (one team).
  4. Three judging criteria here are thematic design and solution, forward-lookingness in technology, and business model and industrial benefits.
